Fixxa alternative

The Fixxa alternative with nothing to download

Fixxa and TradesOffice cost the same headline price — £19.99 a month. The difference is where the work happens, and what you pay on top when a customer actually pays you.

No card required · works in the WhatsApp you already use

Fixxa is a real product built by a real UK company, and the voice idea is a good one: you speak a job and it formats the quote or invoice. If talking into an app suits how you work, it does that well.

The two differences worth knowing before you choose. First, Fixxa is an app — their free-trial buttons go to a download page, and their own privacy policy describes WhatsApp as the channel for "document delivery to your clients". You open the app, speak, then share the PDF out. TradesOffice works the other way round: you message Amy in the WhatsApp thread you already have open, the way you message anyone.

Second, Fixxa charges the subscription and then takes a cut of your money. Their published rate is from 2.5% + £0.20 on a standard UK card, 2.9% + £0.20 on premium cards, 5.99% + £0.35 on Klarna, and 1% for a same-day payout. TradesOffice takes £19.99 a month and nothing else — what your customer pays you is yours.

Nothing to install

Fixxa's trial button opens a download page. Ours opens a WhatsApp thread. If your phone is already full and you have never once opened an admin app twice, that difference is the whole decision.

We take nothing when you get paid

A percentage sounds small until you invoice £8,000 on a kitchen. At 2.5% + 20p that is £200 gone on one job — ten months of our subscription, on a single invoice.

Text beats voice on a noisy site

Voice notes are useful now and then. But most of the time a five-word text sent one-handed from the van is faster, quieter and works when there is a radio on. We lead with text and support voice, not the other way round.

The UK tax bits are the product, not a page

CIS at 0, 20 or 30% with the gross, deduction and net all kept; PO numbers on contractor invoices; MTD expense categories; a running tax pot; a quarterly pack your accountant can actually file from.

Questions

Is TradesOffice cheaper than Fixxa?

The subscriptions are identical — £19.99 a month each, at the time of writing. The difference is what happens after that: Fixxa publishes a rate of from 2.5% + £0.20 on every invoice paid through their payment links, and TradesOffice takes nothing on top. If you invoice £3,000 a month, that is roughly £75 a month of difference. Always check both current prices before you decide.

Is Fixxa a WhatsApp app?

Not in the way TradesOffice is. Fixxa is an app you download and speak into, and WhatsApp is one of the ways you send the finished document to your customer — their own privacy policy describes it as "document delivery to your clients". With TradesOffice, WhatsApp is where you do the work: you message Amy and she does it. There is nothing to download.

Does either of them file my tax return?

No, and be careful of anyone implying otherwise. Fixxa says it is working towards quarterly submission; TradesOffice does not file to HMRC either. What we do is keep records to MTD standard as you work — categorised expenses, CIS figures, a quarterly pack — so your accountant has something clean to file from instead of a carrier bag.

Which is better if I prefer talking to typing?

Honestly, try both. Fixxa is built voice-first and that is a genuine strength if it suits you. TradesOffice handles voice notes too, but it is built around the way most builders actually message — a short text. Both have a free trial and neither asks for a card to start.
