Where's the Next Job Coming From? How to Turn Facebook Likes Into Actual Enquiries

Ask a tradesperson what keeps them up at night, and most won't say invoices.

They'll say the diary.

The week after next that's looking a bit thin. The job that was meant to start Monday and went quiet. That stretch in the winter where the phone stops ringing and you start doing sums in your head you'd rather not do.

Don't get me wrong — the paperwork's a pain, and I've written plenty about it. But the paperwork only exists because you've got work on. The real worry, the one that sits in the back of your mind on a Sunday night, is where the next job's coming from.

The lead problem nobody talks about

Here's the thing I've noticed talking to builders: most of them are brilliant at getting noticed. They post a finished bathroom on Facebook. It gets the likes. "Looks great, mate." And there's almost always one comment underneath — "can you quote mine?"

Then what?

It's a comment. Or it's a Messenger message that pings while you're halfway up a ladder. Or it's "my mate said he'll give you a ring." And three weeks later you're trying to remember who it was, which Julie tagged who, and whether you ever got back to them. You didn't, because you were on site, and by the time you sat down it had slipped your mind.

The enquiry was there. You just had no way to catch it.

You've already got the attention

This is the bit that took me a while to see properly. Most tradespeople don't have a lead problem. They have a lead-capture problem.

You already post the photos. You already get asked. The work is coming towards you — it's just landing in five different places. A comment here, a DM there, a text, a word at the school gates. And half of it leaks straight back out because there's no one place for it to go and no system to catch it.

You don't need more attention. You need a net.

What we built

So that's what we built into TradesOffice. And like everything else, it works the way you already work — no app to download, no new number, just WhatsApp.

You get your own page. Something like tradesoffice.io/your-name — your work, your area, a few words about you. A proper link you can drop under a Facebook photo, stick in your bio, or text to anyone who asks "have you got owt I can have a look at?"

On that page there's a "request a quote" button. The customer fills in what they need, where they are, a rough budget, and a few photos.

And here's the part that changes things — it lands straight on your WhatsApp as a proper enquiry. Not "hi mate can you quote my extension" floating around in Messenger. Something you can actually use — it'll look something like this:

New quote request Kitchen renovation — NE12 Budget £15,000–£20,000 6 photos attached

You read it when you're off the tools. Reply 1 to go and price it up, or 2 if you're too busy. That's it. Nothing lost, nothing forgotten, no detective work three weeks later.

And it doesn't stop at the enquiry

Because it's the same system that already handles your admin, the job carries on down the line on its own.

Win the work, and Amy's already turning that enquiry into a quote. The job runs, you message her as you go, the invoice goes out the second it's done, and she chases the customer if they're slow to pay. One thread, from the first enquiry all the way to the money landing in your account.

Work in one end. Paid out the other. And you've not opened a laptop once.

You don't have to pay for shared leads

One last thing, because tradespeople ask me this a lot. This isn't one of those lead sites that charges you for every lead and sends the same job out to several tradespeople at once, so you're all paying to undercut each other by tea time. (That really is how the big lead marketplaces work — on MyBuilder, for instance, several tradespeople pay for the same lead and only one wins the job.) With TradesOffice it's your page and your enquiry. A flat monthly cost, the same whether you get one enquiry or fifty — we never take a cut of your work and never charge you per lead.

The enquiry that comes through your page is yours. That's the whole point.

If the diary going quiet is a worry you know too well, this is the bit of TradesOffice worth a look. Save one WhatsApp contact, share your page, and let the enquiries come to you — properly, in one place, ready to act on.
